Pouch UK Strength Guide

There are a lot of nicotine pouches out there, with a lot of different strength ratings – and with every brand using its own unique rating system, it can be easy to get confused.

One brand’s ‘low’ might be another brand’s ‘extreme’. To help you cut through the noise, we’ve created our own straightforward nicotine strength rating system so that you can find the right nicotine pouch for you.

This guide is based on the nicotine (mg) per pouch, so you know exactly what you’re getting.

Strength Nicotine / Pouch(mg) Suitable for
Mild 0-9mg Light smokers and vapers.
Medium 10-19mg Regular smokers and vapers.
Strong 20-29mg Pouch users seeking a stronger nicotine release.
Extra-Strong 30-49mg Experienced pouch users seeking an intense nicotine release.
Extreme 50mg+ Veteran pouch users seeking a max-intensity experience

All of our stock is categorised according to this strength table, so you can filter your results to find your desired nicotine strength!

How Does Nicotine Pouch Strength Compare to Other Nicotine Products?

A good way to get a proper idea of the strength of nicotine pouches is to take a side-by-side look with other nicotine products.

Cigarettes

Traditional cigarettes offer a fast-acting but short-lived nicotine release. The nicotine is absorbed quickly into your bloodstream, providing you with a nicotine rush, but it does not remain present for long. Nicotine pouches offer a more gradual release, which can help to keep your cravings satisfied for longer.

The average cigarette contains around 10-15mg of nicotine. In the 5-10 minutes it takes you to smoke a cigarette, your body absorbs around 2mg.

Nicotine pouches vary in strength, but you absorb around 30% of their nicotine content during the 30 minutes you use them. This means that if you had a 6mg pouch, you’d get around 2mg of nicotine. If you’d like a higher mg, just get a stronger pouch!

Vapes

Vapes are a little bit more complicated. Nicotine absorption is dependent on the type of nicotine (freebase or nic salts) used in the e-liquid and its concentration.

Generally speaking, though, one inhale from a vape absorbs around one-fifth of the nicotine provided by a regular cigarette. This is why vapers tend to inhale more than smokers.

This means that e-cigarettes provide a slower release of nicotine, where the nicotine is administered through more prolonged exposure – much like nicotine pouches. As a result, switching between the two should feel very natural.

E-liquids come in a range of strengths (3mg, 6mg, 12mg, 18mg, and 20mg), so finding the right nicotine pouch should be an easy task for vapers: just find a nicotine pouch with a similar strength to your usual vape juice!

What Nicotine Pouch Strength Should I Choose?

Nicotine pouches are a healthy and effective way of satisfying your cravings. That being said, many adult smokers and vapers making the switch often underestimate them!

Many first-time nicotine pouch users make the mistake of going straight for the highest strength available, but this can often be too intense of an experience.

We always recommend starting out with a lower strength—like mild or medium—before graduating to higher strengths. Beginners should aim to find a product with a strength ranging from 1 to 20mg of nicotine per pouch.

However, if you’re a heavy smoker or an experienced pouch user, and you think you need something on the stronger side to keep on top of your cravings, then a stronger option might be the right choice for you.

The choice is yours. No matter which strength you’re looking for, we’ve got a nicotine pouch to suit your needs!
